Building company Richmond American Homes now offering solar packages in all regions

MDC Holdings, the parent company of the Richmond American Homes businesses, has announced that solar options are now available in all regions where Richmond American builds.

Richmond American Homes companies have been providing solar energy systems to customers in California since 2012. Now the homebuilder is taking its commitment to sustainability to the next level by bringing solar options to communities from coast to coast.

In addition, Richmond American is introducing an even wider range of standard and optional features that help reduce power consumption without sacrificing functionality. These include even more efficient HVAC solutions (up to 16 SEER air conditioners and variable speed medium or high efficiency ovens), high efficiency MERV 13 air filters, highly efficient tankless water heaters, Low-E windows and radiant roof barriers. The builder now also offers pre-wired electric vehicle charging in all markets.

Richmond US home buyers looking for solar energy can choose from the following solutions:

  • Install a solar energy system through one of the company’s preferred suppliers
  • Install a hidden conduit for a future solar energy system

As of June 2021, Richmond American Homes businesses closed 5,682 homes with solar panels in California and Colorado. The builder is now poised to help people in other states reduce their carbon footprint.

“We are always looking for ways to reduce energy consumption and waste and promote a healthy environment, and we have had great success with solar energy systems in California and Colorado. So bringing solar solutions to all of the regions where we build was a natural next step,” said Andrew Harris, senior VP of Richmond American Homes Corporation.

Solar options are not available in builder’s Cityscape communities.
