Business donates training supply to Lowndes Co. Fire Rescue
VALDOSTA, Georgia (WALB) – A South Georgia company is giving back to the community by donating items from their store to first responders.
Southland Metal Roofing Supply donated a roof structure to Lowndes County Fire Rescue.
It helps recruits and firefighters train safely, while instructors monitor the training from the ground.
The structure helps train for scenarios that firefighters can see when they arrive at a scene with heavy smoke coming out of a building.
If ventilation is needed, they climb up.
The ventilation will help improve indoor conditions and firefighters will be able to enter in better conditions.
And it provides an opening for toxic gases to ascend and exit the structure.
If there is a victim inside, it also helps to improve the indoor conditions for them.
“Southland Metal Roofing has always made it their mission to give back to the community, they’ve given us so much. So over the last three years we’ve been able to go into the community and find out where it’s most needed, whatever kind of first responder needs it. Last year we gave some new roofs to some retired military personnel and we just want to keep doing that for the community,” said Conrad Seascholtz, owner of Southland Metal Roofing Supply.
Seasholtz said he is grateful to the community and it is a blessing to help.
