David Wright, E Light Electric
How did you get started in solar energy?
E Light came on solar in 2008 when we did the 1.75 MW Belmar project. Shortly after, the company as an organization made the decision to pursue solar energy. We have been working on solar projects ever since.
What is your favorite part of working in the solar industry?
I enjoy how specialized it is. I also like how fast and challenging it is and how it evolves.
What has surprised you most about the solar industry in the past 10 years?
What surprises me most is that we don’t do it anymore. I thought the industry would evolve faster and thought that certain organizations would move more quickly to solar energy.
What are your solar predictions for the next 10 years?
I have a feeling that there will be more direct solar for the grid and companies for production, such as commercial companies and high energy consumers. I think we will see more microgrid battery storage and continued technological innovation.
How Does the Best Solar Contractors List Help Your Business?
It gives us insight into who does what in the industry and helps us generate leads. It also helps us to get a broader view of the market in general with products. I believe this helps us the most with our platform to showcase our experience and capabilities in the industry.
Do you have any special memories of the list or the Gala from the past 10 years?
In 2015, E Light was awarded the Top Electrical Subcontractor and we were proud to receive our award at the Gala. That was such a fun time and memory. Every time we can grab number 1 in our home state, it’s special to us too. We received the #1 Top Colorado Contractor in 2020, 2018 and 2017.
