Greenskies installs over 600 kW of solar for New Jersey township

Greenskies Clean Energy has partnered with Eznergy Solar Energy Solutions, a New Jersey-based solar energy provider, to install 606 kW of solar power for the Township of Lawrence, New Jersey. These solar installations contributed to the Township’s 2020 Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award for “Climate Change & Clean Air” for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from municipal operations.

“Lawrence Township is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and advancing our shared goals of a more sustainable future,” said Kevin Nerwinski, Lawrence Township municipal manager. “These solar installations were critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions for our municipality. We are proud that they can serve as an example for the community.”

This part of Lawrence Township’s journey to environmental excellence began in 2018 with evaluating municipal ownership for solar feasibility. Subsequently, the Township conducted a competitive RFP bidding process and selected Greenskies and Eznergy as partners to complete several solar projects. Ultimately, solar power was installed in the form of carports in the Lawrence Township Municipal Building (194 kW) and the adjacent Lawrence Township Police and Municipal Court building (374 kW), along with a roof system at the Public Works Building (38 kW). ).

“Greenskies is proud to partner with Eznergy and Lawrence Township, a community strongly committed to taking meaningful action against climate change,” said Stanley Chin, president and CEO of Greenskies. “The implementation of solar energy has helped them offset greenhouse gas emissions by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and sets a good example for the entire community.”

In addition to the environmental benefits, the municipality also saves on electricity costs by purchasing the power generated by the Greenskies solar panels at a reduced rate compared to traditional energy costs.

Greenskies financed the construction at no upfront cost to the municipality and partnered with Eznergy to install the solar panels. In addition, Greenskies will own, operate and maintain the solar systems for the lifetime of the projects.
