On Mission Matters Podcast Stacie Feller of KangaRoof Talks

Beverly Hills, CA, Oct. 01, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Stacie Feller isn’t just the president of KangaRoof; she is also the co-owner, along with her husband and business partner Scott. Since beginning her career with an insurance company in 1996, it has been a long and eventful road to running and expanding a family business in roofing in Round Rock, Texas, just outside of Austin, Texas.

Listen to Stacie Feller’s full interview on Mission Matters Business Podcast.

Stacie says her company’s primary goal is to change people’s perception of roofing companies by doing things the right way. By that she means that KangaRoof hires hard-working people to consistently deliver excellent results to their customers. “Our mission,” she says, “is to provide better employment opportunities for industrious people.”

How is the roofing market in Austin performing?

According to Stacie, the Austin roofing market has continued to thrive even during the COVID-19 pandemic. “A lot of people feared a recession after the COVID-19 outbreak last year, but (our company was) safe in Texas,” she says. In recent years, the capital of Texas has seen the addition of brands such as Tesla, Amazon, Facebook, Google and Apple set up new offices and drive unprecedented growth in the region. is an attractive place for people who want to move to a new place.

How does growth affect real estate?

“Unfortunately,” Stacie explains, “there isn’t much inventory for homes in Austin, so people are giving higher prices than expected.” She describes the chaotic state of the housing market at the moment and says that houses often sell within hours of their availability being announced. For various reasons, including the rapid pace of the market and the overwhelming imbalance between supply and demand, the current shortage of labor and supplies makes it difficult to complete new developments.

The story behind KangaRoof

KangaRoof is a family run business that was initially founded by Stacie’s husband, Scott, during his college days. Before starting the company in Round Rock, he worked as an engineer and what started as a contracting company eventually became KangaRoof.

After marrying Scott in 2012, Stacie joined the company in 2016 and they worked with his sister, Ami, as co-owners to grow the business customer by customer. Eventually, Scott’s sister spun her own roofing business about an hour and a half south of Austin. Since then, Scott and Stacie have run an efficient and reliable roofing family business.

As Stacie explains, KangaRoof is strictly a private roofing company that doesn’t build anything new: their main function is roof replacement, guttering and roof repair.

“We found that this is what we’re good at,” Stacie says, “and we want to stay with our (knowledge) expertise.”

The core value of Stacie’s family business

“Our core value is to do the right thing.” says Stacie. The team has managers who take care of the reception and Stacie guides the workplace culture of KangaRoof. “Any business that grows can slip out of your hands very quickly at first,” Stacie says. So, she explains, it’s important to partner with people who share the business ethic of hard work, efficiency, and doing the right thing in all circumstances.

Tips for women working in the home care sector

When it comes to the male-dominated history of the roofing industry, Stacie says, “You don’t know how many men have questioned my knowledge.” Women can dive deep into the product or service they specialize in and become experts, she says, which can help avoid being bullied or humiliated by others. Trust and authority are key elements of success for women in roles traditionally held by male colleagues, she explains: it’s important to stand firm and expect respect.

The way for KangaRoof

KangaRoof had a record year in 2020. Two years ago, they took over an HVAC company and turned it into Koala Cooling. They’ve talked about expanding into services like plumbing, electricity, and more. But before taking it to the next level, Stacie says she wants to make sure the roofing and HVAC companies remain stable throughout the process without sacrificing the excellence they are known for.
