Roofing salesman facing theft charge; turns self in

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A roofing company salesman in Shreveport is charged with theft after discovering a $41,000 loss.

James Mitchell, 53, turned himself in to authorities at the Caddo Correctional Center on Sept. 27.

Mitchell allegedly took money from a client who believed she was paying for a job to be done by Rain Pro Roofing.

The customer told authorities that Mitchell was driving a Rain Pro Roofing truck and had papers in a Rain Pro Roofing folder.

Later, however, the client found out that the contract had been written for another roofing company. No record of the transaction has been made with Rain Pro Roofing.

The total amount for the lost job was $41,878.75, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Following this, the owners of Rain Pro Roofing contacted other customers who said they paid Mitchell cash and checks. However, the money was not transferred to the company.

Mitchell has since been released on bail.
